Learn MoreIn this project, one of our esteemed clients from the insurance sector needed to upgrade their IT infrastructure to quickly deliver reliable services and connect with partners while maintaining optimum levels of system and data security. At Taashee, our engineers replaced their existing architecture with an agile, microservices-based approach based on containers running on Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat 3scale API Management integration technology to achieve the desired results.
Our client, headquartered in Mumbai, is one of India’s leading players in the private sector insurance space with offices in more than 160 locations across the country. It offers a host of general insurance products for personal and corporate insurance, as well as specialized financial lines. The company’s products are available through distribution channels like agents, brokers, banks and direct channels like telemarketing, digital marketing, their own website etc.
To accelerate their digital transformation efforts in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our client sought to replace their aging, monolithic IT architecture with a dynamic, microservices-based approach. Their existing technology didn’t offer the responsiveness and connectivity they needed to support modern, digital service delivery. This made change slow and cumbersome, delaying the launch of new features and integration of new partners. As part of their drive to digitization, they also wanted real-time data to be collected from their digital channels to update their CRM system and call center operations without expending any additional manual efforts.
Taashee’s Red Hat experts reviewed the client’s existing setup and suggested to implement Red Hat OpenShift running in a VMware vSphere virtual server environment as the solution. OpenShift is an enterprise Kubernetes container platform, providing a modular, secure, and automated base for efficiently building microservices and API-based applications.
To enhance the client’s API approach, Taashee further adopted Red Hat 3scale API Management. When integrated with Red Hat OpenShift, 3scale provided API traffic control across multiple environments and delivery channels, including an expansive range of encryption, authentication, and authorization protocols. We also implemented Red Hat’s single sign-on technology (SSO) to support admin and back-end user login across these products with a single set of credentials for increased security and control.Â

The above implementations proved extremely beneficial towards the client’s vision of digital transformation – reducing service delivery times and improving API-based integration with third-party partners. Their core IT system and CRM platforms have now been integrated with their call centers, giving their sales teams access to the latest CRM data via a dedicated mobile application.
With the new upgraded IT infrastructure in place, the client was able to adopt an agile, automated development approach that improved time to market for their new services. The changes were not confined to the development approach only, since their IT culture became more dynamic, for example, through training to support fast company-wide changes to keep up with changing business requirements. Their scalability was improved to the point that they could now support more than twice the number of calls per day. System integration too, showed major enhancements to support and secure API-based data sharing with their growing partner ecosystem.
