Our client needed a reliable monitoring solution that could handle and solve the drawbacks of the organization’s existing IT monitoring system. As per their requirements, the monitoring solution needed to fulfill a certain niche list of functions that they were unable to do manually, including problem reporting, trends identification, capacity planning, built-in graphing functionality and a host of others. Taashee’s SMEs studied the client’s existing environment thoroughly and implemented Zabbix throughout their worldwide IT infrastructure to address the client’s needs.
The client is a full-service pharma contract development and manufacturing organization(CDMO). Headquartered in Hyderabad, their R&D and manufacturing facilities located in the US, UK and India are built to global standards and serve an elite international clientele. They mostly work with pharma and biotech companies across USA, EU & Japan, accelerating the discovery, development and manufacture of complex small molecules. As one of India’s fastest-growing CDMO companies, the company is actively investing in its future, with strategic investments in R&D and manufacturing capabilities, automation, IT systems, quality systems and training.
With IT assets spread among its various research and manufacturing units under very little oversight, the client was desperately looking for a large-scale solution to monitor its IT infrastructure. The client had more than 500 network devices and servers which were spread across three continents and multiple locations in various countries. Before approaching Taashee, the client did not have any IT-based monitoring capability. The already vast and growing distributed IT infrastructure made manual monitoring a nightmare since there was no way to identify downtimes except for developers and end users reporting problems directly to the central IT staff.
However, this reactive approach (as opposed to a proactive approach of identifying errors before they caused disruptions) led to many complications, including unexpected downtimes and loss of crucial proprietary data. It is at this juncture, that the client approached Taashee for a suitable open-source solution to this complex scenario.
Taashee’s cyber-monitoring experts first appraised the client’s unique requirements and recommended an iterative phased approach, with each phase focusing on a particular geographical region within the organization.
Taashee deployed Zabbix 6.0 LTS, which is an enterprise-class open-source tool, on top of Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 8.0 and MariaDB in the client’s environment. Through the course of this project, we configured more than 500 network devices such as routers, switches, cameras, firewalls (SNMP base configurations), etc.
We had to measure and develop alerts for potential pitfalls in every sub-environment and given the wide variety of technology in use, that took a significant amount of effort from our team of experts. By the end of the implementation, teams throughout the client’s locations received alerts configured specifically for each sub-environment, along with detailed graphical representations of historical data of their infrastructure like speed, fan status of hardware, uptime, etc. A comprehensive overview dashboard report was configured to be generated daily and weekly. These reports could then be used in their meetings to identify trends and act as a basis for capacity planning.
Since the client’s IT team had no prior experience in handling monitoring systems, Taashee collaborated with them closely at every step of the implementation cycle. Zabbix’s user-friendly
dashboard, easy accessibility and easy reconfigurability proved to be extremely beneficial for the technology uptake.
Zabbix’s pre-configured alerts and proactive monitoring capabilities proved to be a boon for our client’s day-to-day operations. Not only did they experience a 70% reduction in downtimes and an 85% reduction in data loss, but they also saved thousands of dollars in disaster recovery initiatives since their IT teams were able to thwart most disasters before they caused significant service disruptions.
Taashee’s technical team helps organizations that require increased developer productivity, higher quality applications, and lower maintenance costs. Taashee programmers specialize in multiple technologies with add-on features and advanced support. The biggest advantage for customers approaching Taashee is that they do not need to approach multiple vendors to implement different technologies.
